Not every user has moved to apple because of their marketing, but it's unarguably a large part.
And just for everyone's info - I'm a Mac user switched to PC. My first PC was a Compaq that I purchased to go with my Lime G3. Now Macs make up for probably 10% of my computers, if that.

    number of internet users is about about 1.5 billion,right? ( http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm )

    So,if apple has ~10%,then they have ~150 000 000 "users".is my math correct?

    also,
1)most of switchers won't go back to windows IMO
2)Snow Leopard is coming, and it can be a worthy competitor to 7

Anyway, why are we still doing mac vs pc?I think this is a wrong place for that!

Btw everyone, thanks for the congrats at forcing myself to stop dithering and buy a macbook pro :D

It should be here by the end of next week! *Excited*

Btw, the only software i'm looking to purchase is Office 2008. I don't need any other paid for software do I? What about copying CD's and DVD's? Can OSX do that nativly or do I need a third party program?

It can do that natively, using Disk Utility. If you want to rip them to your HDD or change the format, you can use an app called HandBrake... :)

In terms of paid apps, I would take a look at iWork 09 as well. You can download trial versions of both Office and iWork and see which suits your needs better. Since you bought a new mac, you can get iWork for only 39 dollars instead of the 150+ you would have to spend on office.

That being said, I can't remember if you said you were a student or not, but a lot of colleges/universities have MSDN campus alliances where you can pick up a cheap and legal copy of office through your school.

    Good Luck!
