hey, my friend has a dvd of me and him skydiving, i was wondering if there was any way for me to burn the dvd with my macbook pro. I havent bought any kind of dvd sofware, i just have what came with my MBP. Or is there some kind of freeware i can download that would help? i dont really want to have to buy some sort of program, and all i have is one disc drive.
I already tried copying the files into a burn folder, and inserting the dvd-RW after that, but it did not work. Which reminds me, can someone tell me how to get the contents off of my DVD-RW after i burned them on? It seems i cannot delete it straight from the cd, is there some kind of program or assistant i have to open, and how would i do it. Thanks for all ur help

Toast from Roxio is the most common app for doing this kind of thing, but that is a commercial app. There's another one called Popcorn but I don't know much about it.
Not totally sure what is out there on the freeware/shareware side to do this. -
Err iMovie?
It burns just fine. Toast is expensive, last I checked it was 80 dollars. -
Does your friend still have the original tape he recorded the both of you with? If he does, you can stick the camera into your MBP via firewire/USB and use iMoive/iDVD for it. You might be able to import the files and then try using iMoive/iDVD to burn them. Other than that, I don't know if you'll be able to find any freeware that does what you want - I've found some for Windows, however, that will let you do some of the mentioned things.
In addition, you should be able to upload files onto your DVD by simply dragging and dropping files into the CD icon and then burning the disc. -
Try either HandBrake or MacTheRipper.
Both are DVD utilities designed for the purpose that you are asking, I thought you were talking about something else when i said the iMovie comment. -
I thought HandBrake and MacTheRipper were only for ripping a DVD to your HD? I thought what he wanted to do was make a duplicate of the DVD his friend already burned.
