Can i connect a Macbook Pro to lets say a insignia 32 in flat screen hdtv, that has hdmi inputs not dvi. This is probably a question that someone with any computer knowledge would know...but i am sure not one of those people.
thanks

You can get a cable that is DVI to HDMI.
-
Yeah, I managed to get a DVI to HDMI cable for free once and it works fine connecting my dell inspiron 9300 to a 37" plasma.
-
You can get this cable from the Apple Store but it's expensive. There's a 4ft for $99.00 U.S and 8Ft for $119.00 U.S.

This is a great store for cheap, _quality_ cables. -
Kool, that deal is way better. Please enlighten me what is ROFL?

Rolling On the Floor Laughing I think
-
Hahaha, yep, you got it.
-
LOL. Never heard of that one. I thought I knew all the internet acronyms.

A simple cable like those mentioned above will do the trick. Keep in mind though that the resolution on that TV is less than the resolution on the MBP and the TV has about twice the area to fill. It won't look so hot.
-
Why is that?
Isn't the video card powerful enough to provide HDTV quality picture?
I am seriously considering the MBP if it can provide DVD and HDTV quality like my old desktop ATI 9800 Pro 128mb video card does with a DVI to HDMI cable (on my 56" Samsung HDTV)
anyone? -
It's more than powerful enough. The problem is that a 32" LCD HDTV will likely have a resolution of 1366x768 that has to cover 32" whereas the MBP has a resolution of 1440x900 on only 15.4". A 30" Cinema Display has a resolution of 2560x1600. So the problem is those pixels on a 32" HDTV are much larger than those on a computer monitor, so a TV, even an HDTV, will never has a good a resolution as a computer monitor.
-
oh yes, I understand.
on my Samsung 56" HDTV (connected through my ATI 9800 Pro with DVI/HDMI cable) I have to make the resoultion 1216x640 or so (basically 1280x720 which is 720p HDTV is cut off...so I have use the former resolution to make it fit).
Picture isn't as sharp as an LCD or computer monitor but HDTV and DVD quality on the TV is just as good as my DVD player and Satellite HD feed. -
You are "technically" correct, the big difference between your big screen HDTV and your laptop/desktop is that you're often 10+ feet away from the screen (as opposed to 1-2 feet on a lappy/desktop) so it doesn't really make a difference how "big" the pixels are. Most people would be perfectly happy w/ 1280x720 on an HDTV, I personally love it on my 46" Samsung DLP HDTV and 32" Samsung LCD HDTV. Obviously higher resolution wouldn't hurt, 1080p would be pretty sweet, but typically I'd say you'll be pretty happy with the picture quality.
can it connect to a hmdi hdtv lcd?
