hey i'm heading off to universtiy and am wondering if auto cad will run on the new macbooks. I have used this program at school and the computers there are nothing special. i would like it to run fairly smoothly but it doesnot have to be pro quality performance. i plan on getting a black macbook with a gig of ram mabye 2.
oh and also wat ive read some other posts but i was wondering wat the final verdict was on whether or not a macbook revision was coming before september or if a 14" or 13" mbp was in the works. then i would consider that most definetly.

There will be no smaller MacBook Pro; the MacBook replaced the iBooks and the 12" PowerBook. I highly doubt a MacBook revision, and even if there is, there really isnt much that is going to change, possibly the addition of a matte screen and a new lower end cheaper single core model.
AutoCAD probably will work on the MacBook, after you install Windows through Boot Camp. -
Slow down there. No need to go spastic.

Damm why the atitude -
well the only issue is the integrated graphics. If you are going to be doing really heavy graphical stuff with CAD you might want to look at something that has a dedicated graphics card (the macbook pro has a 256MB ATI X1600 that is near-top-of-the-line) but if you are going to be doing mainly CAD, you may want to look at geting a PC rather than a Mac...

I agree with kincrowing. Take a look at the Dell Latitude D820. It may suit your need a little better.

thats the thing i'm not going to be using it extensivley. but for just casual 2D drawings you think that the integrated graphics on the macbook will be sufficient?
i will be using it in windows aswell. -
2d drawings can probably be handled well enough by the integrated card. but any major 3d drawings WILL need a dedicated card.

since autoCad is just drawing 2D lines on a black screen it should be fine on a macbook as long as you get a copy of windows xp as i dont know if it will work on osx
can this run on macbook?
