    hey i was wondering when using an external mouse how to change the function of the middle button? at the moment it just opens dashboard which is useless for me because i use f12.

    I think SteerMouse can do it, I have it instaled, but just never got around to usiing it.

    Just looking at it now it looks like its shareware, but if it does what you want maybe its worth the money.

    What is the brand & model of your mouse? The manufacturer may have software on their website to control the mouse.

    i thought there must of been an built into the os, way of doing this?

    Not really for third-party mice. OS X Mouse control is under System Preferences --> Keyboard & Mouse --> Mouse.

    Your best option is to install the software provided by the mouse's manufacturer, if available.
