Well for the first question aim i know works with ichat. The dvd player is alright. Not the best. The video clips might depend on what file format they are. Not sure about the wireless but if it doesnt have security you should be fine connecting.

I'm curious about #1 as well. I've been told that Skype is the best cross platform video chat platform currently, but haven't been able to use it myself yet.
At work we had a bunch of trouble trying to get AIM and iChat to work together and I've been told that it is often hit or miss. -
1) Yes, take a look at Skype and using AIM with iChat.
2) Yeah, absolutely.
3) Depends what format they are...there is DivX Player for Mac. You can get the Flip4Mac plugin for Quicktime to view WMV videos. Generally, there is some way to get your videos in Windows to play on Mac, but once again, depends on what format they are.
4) Yeah, basically any flash drive works with Mac OS X. As Acorn said, I don't believe the U3 software works on Mac though.
5) DVD Player comes with OS X Leopard. It does its job fine...if you prefer VLC, there's that as well.
6) Yeah, its easy. You turn Airport on (just Apple's name for WiFi) and you just select the name of the network you want to join. If there's a password on the network, type it in; if not, you're connected!
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I am got my new MacBook, and let me just answer one of your questions regarding the chatting software.. I would recommend you intalling Adium ( www.adiumx.com) It is free and it will manage all your IM clients.
Also, a very good resource for apps you can go here: http://chris24.ca/apple/best-mac-apps
Good luck, and I have not being dissapointed with my MacBook so far ! Now I own a Macbook and a Lenovo Thinkpad, the best of both worlds
