does apple go on the conservative side with their ship dates

So does apple tend to beat their projections?

 

i've been hearing that they are accurate with their shipping date estimates. not sure though if this is true or not.

 

they are pretty accurate with the ship time. however my mbp was delivered two days early though!

 

well i really hope i can bring it on my flight on the 9th. It says my eta was 8/7-8/14

 

If you're concerned you should call Apple (1-800-676-2775). Tell them your worries and maybe even that you're thinking of canceling the order. They will likely offer you a $50 discount and expedited shipping (Unless your order has already shipped). Still it's worth a try .

 

I got my MBP 1 day early from the ship date albeit an odd time of 19:55

 

Just waiting for my MacBook pro to get in from my local computer store. Just taking too long then I wanted. x_x

I'm guessing Apple's tracking is nowhere near as sophisticated as Dells. Whenever I call all they tell me is the same as the order status page. At least with Dell they can see where everything is at a certain time. Lol, I'm just desperate to get my MBP.

 

Patience, patience! I'm also anxious for my MBP. I ordered on the 25th and am anticipating delivery somewhere between August 3rd to 7th (or somewhere within that range).

At least its not like waiting for the m1330...

I am killing myself over waiting for my MBP .
Ordered the 20th. Hoping it'll come this week. I wake up every morning and rush to the computer to check if the ship email has been sent, and get disappointed every morning

 

lol, i'm in the same boat, except i ordered 5 days after you, on the 25th. whats the ship date range on your order status page?

i'm pegging it takes apple 2 weeks to ship 'em out. since the led screens are in hot demand and supply is pinched pretty much with every maker.

edit: wait it out a few more days, at least your not among the scores of people waiting for the dell m1330 who have been frustrated at 2 month lead times.

MacBook's ship out within 1-2 days here in the United States, according to Apple's store. The MacBook Pro's take about 10 days to be shipped out.

Same here, but I ordered late at night on the 25th, so my ship date range is actually between 8/3 to 8/10.

 

Mine is on it's way now.

I ordered a MBP 2.4 Mat screen for 2,613.00CND. I dont have any edu discount or EPP.

I received my BAG yesterday, can't wait to put it in and out every morning.

How would i go about getting a free upgrade of shipping? I know with Dell, they pretty much up you to next day if you call in for whatever reason. Also, whenever I call, the reps seem to know about as much of the status of my order as does the apple order status page. I am getting on a plane the 9th and not returning for 2 weeks and my ship date is 8/3 - 8/8. What can I say or do?

 

I purchased my MBP from Mcamall and it arrived yesterday, two days before the scheduled time.

 

It's COMING IT's COMING

 

I called them and innocently inquired about the exact shipping date (because the original one was very imprecise). I told the CSR that I was asking because I was going in vacation soon (not really..) and I was scared that no one would be home to receive the package. She put me on hold for 2 minutes and came back telling me that she upgraded it and if it the new possible delivery date was alright. I said yes and many thanks for "accommodating me"...

Fedex tracking is estimating the delivery by tomorrow (friday) at 6 pm.

 

What I did was ask how much it would cost to upgrade shipping. The CSR kindly offered to upgrade for free. "No Problem" he said haha

 

I ordered on the 21st and still waiting... and waiting..

 

well I called and now he changed it so that my estimated ship date is still 8/3 - 8/9. But now my delivery date is 8/6 - 8/9. With my luck it'll arrive on the 9th but I leave early in the morning. (Crosses fingers)

 

still waiting here as well... got some accessories coming in today for it, but nothing to put them on. bummer.

 

That is depressing because I ordered on the 23rd.

My MBP came 1 month earlier than the estimated ship date so yes, they really do go on the conservative side with their ship dates.

Of course, at that time, Apple had a shortage of the harddrive I wanted, so they put an estimated ship date for 2 months later

 

mine is on truck for delivery at the moment. So I expect it before 6PM (fedex).

Hopefully no dead pixel, I hate those.

 

Well I called and explained my situation about me leaving for school soon and that I was worried about my deliver by august 15th date. The person seemed more than happy to expedite my shipping. My order was just updated, I now have a $15 shipping charge and the deliver by date is still the same .

 

That's odd...Apple's been known to very generously upgrade to overnight shipping for free (based upon personal experience and others' testimonials).

Even so, I wouldn't expect the "ship by" date to change - but if you expedite your order, the "deliver by" date should change.

 

well gave apple another call, they credited me back $15, said that I still had expedited shipping (should get my MBP by the 11th) although my order status still shows the original deliver by date of the 15th . Whatever I'm tired of being put on hold and having to listen to a bunch of crappy music. You would think as they own itunes that they would have a better selection or maybe they just have bad taste?

 

Its been 1 week since I've placed the order for my MBP. I read on some threads that people have gotten their MBP's next day or the day after. The thing is, those were for non-customized MBP's. The only thing I added on to mine was the HD upgrade. I would have thought that it would be quick to get a HD and plop it in the MBP. Guess there's other delay's on some parts, most likely the LED-LCD screens?

 

There was a major shortage of 160GB 7200RPM HDDs for the 15" MBPs when it first came out - as far back as 2 months estimated backorder. Luckily, the batch arrived in 1 month, but I wouldn't be surprised if they ran out already again
