    I bought this from amazon.com:

    http://www.amazon.com/SimpleTech-16.../B0001DYTY4/ref=de_a_smtd/103-2699023-5467829

and I can't write anything to it from my mac. I don't know what's going on...it says you can only read files on it. And that's really absurd since the box clearly said it's "built for OS X." I really wish I didn't get one of these...and on their website there's only one FAQ about using it on mac and it was absolutely useless. I'll probably return it and get a different one if I can't get it to work in 24 hours but yeah so I'm really mad at SimpleTech and amazon. Both of them. Because SimpleTech misadvertised and well, amazon, well not amazon, it's not their fault, so I guess not amazon but yeah now I have to go through getting a stupid RMA label from amazon and shipping it back and getting a refund and then ordering a new one that's actually mac compatible.

    Anyways help...?

Do you know what format the disk is in? It sounds like it is in NTFS, which from what I last heard, didn't have great write support. See if you can format it in HFS+.

haha...just kidding. Turns out the manual tells you how to format for mac use on the SECOND PAGE and not the first. Silly me.

When all else fails, read the entire manual... :D

If you want to keep the external drive as NTFS, perhaps for sharing with a Windows XP/Vista machine, you may want to have a look at MacFUSE which allows R/W access to NTFS partitions.

I decided to partition the thing and make one of the partitions NTFS if I can actually figure that out, since my mom and my sister have windows.
