Mac OS X Tiger: The missing manual

This book has been recommended by many people on this forum. There are also several websites out there that discuss OS X and have tutorials and such.

The Missing Manual might be a little geekier than she is looking for. The best way for her to learn, frankly, is to use it. Stumble around. If she still really wants to get a book, Leo LaPorte's Guide to Mac OS X Tiger is more geared toward regular people. The Missing Manual is more along the lines of a text book. Really good, but not really for the non-geek.

    thanks for the replies.

anything geeky would be way out of the question.

cash - amazon says leo's 'leans away from a "describe the menus" and instead focuses on...'
"describing the menus"/the basics is actually what i am looking for. any recommendations?

I am sure there is an OS X for Dummies book that would be pretty basic.

Oh, do you have a big book store around you? maybe a barnes & noble, books-a-million, or borders?

While cash's suggestion of OS X for dummies maybe right, nothing beats seeing if a bookstore has some in stock and you can take a look at them. I know that a borders up home has a massive amount of computer books, and some on OS X.
