http://support.apple.com really does have a lot of answers to questions you might have about how to do this or that, try searching there. There are also some introduction-style guides to OS X there, some geared specifically towards "switchers" (people coming from Windows to OS X).

As for the window system, Aqua is not an X server - the X11 install that is included on the discs (not pre-installed) runs on top of Aqua as an application. You can't really change the window system as such.

well if I install x11 on top of Aqua is it a fully functioning x11, can I then use stuff made for it and have it well integrated in to OS X ? or is the level of integration not to high/level of compatibility not to high ? just want to know my limits as far a apps n stuff.

also as far as OS X is concerned I know I am not to knowledgeable of it, but I have used it several times, and with a high knowledge of computers, the way developers think ( as far as where they hide stupid things I want to use in context menus and other places) and good computer software intuition, I see no problems with basic to regular OS X use. I am more interested in really in depth sites.

for example, if OS X was windows I would be looking for sites that give tips on reg editing, cmd prompt commands, services tweaking ect...

    Thanks
    Bob

ps, I am going through the sites that have been already linked, just want to get as many places I can reference as I can cause of course each are going to help me out but some sites will have info the other ones don't, or just in the way they display the info they have.
