Hi, friends. I just got my first 15 inch macbook pro this afternoon, C2D 2.2, 2G memory, 120G hard drive, everything works out great.

Tonight when I use the macbook pro to write something for school, I notice that the screen sometimes brighter, sometimes dimmer. do not know why, anybody has any suggestions?

    Thanks.

First of all, congrats, fan of laptop! :)

Anyways, there's nothing wrong, that's just the Ambient Light Sensor doing its thing :p. If you find that annoying, there is a way to turn it off, check System Preferences...I'm not sure, as I have a MacBook and it doesn't have the Ambient Light Sensor.

And my trademark two links to all new switchers :p:

its under system preferences --> displays. Uncheck the ambient light checkbox.

    enjoy your new mbp!

Yes I noticed this issue, too, and so did a friend of mine who bought a MBP this week. I consider it a design flaw, as the ambient light sensor should be closer to the outside edge of the laptop if you ask me. Or at least, it should be designed differently.

That said, the MBP is the best laptop I've ever owned. :D

It is definitely worth the money. I have just purchased 2.2 and I am over the moon. This is the best piece of hardware I have ever worked on. All these details makes my effort easier.

Congrats! The MBP is the best computer I've used so far too..

And about the ambient light sensor, I don't really use it at all. First it seemed kinda nice and groovy to show off and stuff, but now my brightness is all the way up, all the time..

Cdnalsi, I work on 13/16 and I am still satisifed. Try this with other laptops. No way! On max. brightness screens are still dim and dark.
