i was working on my mac today (deleting email messages) and suddenly it froze and wouldn't do anything. so i it turned it off (using the cntrl/alt/delete method), and it won't restart now....i get the light blue screen....but no normal start up. it's making funny clicking sounds (never heard that from it before), and after a few seconds i get a flashing icon in the middle of the screen with a couple of tabs, and a question mark.....what could be happening?

    thanks for any helpful suggestions....

Ouch could be your HD that's died. Do you have AppleCare? Best thing to do is to probably send it back. Are the clicking sounds coming from the right of the touch pad, at the palm rest? Since that is where the HD is located on the Macbook.

thanks for your reply. it's hard to tell where the sounds are coming from, but sounds more centralized than the touch pad....why would the HD die? my macbook is about 10 months old, and i do use it everyday.

If your Mac is still under warranty, then you have AppleCare. Visit the Apple website corresponding to the country you are at, and book an appointment or call Apple to send you a box.
