I downloaded Windows Media Player for my mac and it is a .bin file
Everytime I double click to install it, it says movie cannot be opened and the quicktime error box pops up?
How do I go about installing this?

You need to install Stuff It to install it... it's like a Mac WinZip... http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/

Really, there is no need for Windows Media Play for Mac. Micro$oft discontinued development and the alternatives are much better. Use the plugins linked above, QuickTime and VLC Media Player.
Stuffit Expander is a good utility to have though. -

Thanks I got it to install
but now its not letting me play any mp3 files, is it because iTunes is the default player? -

Yeah I uninstalled It
I thought there was a benefit to having it on a mac
What is the best media player for many file types on a mac?
I have vlc but it freezes and shuts down on me sometimes
just want to have another good program to play mp3s and vids on a mac than iTunes. Something similar to Winamp for PC's maybe?
thanks for the help -
VLC is good. I don't know why you're having problems with it...try Repairing Disk Permissions (read the Troubleshooting section of the Mac Switcher's Guide for that), and if its still happening, try uninstalling VLC and re-installing it.

Well the problem is I play alot of FLV Videos (ones downloaded from youtube), and when I play them on flv player and try to skip to the middle with my mouse, it shuts down? Is that normal?

VLC will playback Flash Video (.flv) but you won't be able to scan forward/backwards. And it may crash VLC. I think the best solution for Flash playback is QuickTime with Perian installed. You can also use SWF & FLV Player. Is that what you're already using? And of course Adobe Flash Player for Browser support.
EDIT: VLC will likely be the default .flv application. You can change this to QuickTime. The easiest way is to Select a .flv file, press Open-Apple + I, Choose QuickTime as the Open With option and finally Click Change All.
And apparently there is no need to use KeepVid.com. Safari will do the same thing. Watch the bottom video here for more information. I never knew that.

Does this work with Quicktime on Windows too?
-
No. Perian is a plug-in for QuickTime in Mac OS X only, not Windows.

Sorry to revive an old thread but i recently reformatted and visited a website which needs me to install wmp to watch the videos on that site. I would like the watch videos on that site, is there any way to do this other than downloading wmp?
& Quick question about Perian. I downloaded it and installed it, and downloaded a video target and saved it with a .flv extension, however, it says "this file is not a movie file"
whys that? -

forgot about that one!
everythings up and running
