    1. Wait for magsafe indicator to be green for atleast 2 hours.

    2. unplug magsafe, disable sleep/hibernation modes, leave laptop on battery power..

*** When the pop up saying running low on emergency power, do I need to SHUT OFF/POWER DOWN the laptop?

    OR

could I leave it on until it dies automatically?

    3. Then leave MBP alone for over 5+ hours.

The reason being I always let my MBP shut off automatically, I notice when I have charged it back up, it always seems to wake up from a hibernation state, even though I have left it unplugged all day/night

My battery status in pretty bad.. 50 cycles, 88% health.

Doesn't really matter, but you can just shut it off. And yes, that battery seems to be defective. Calibrate it, and if its still like that, contact Apple.

I haven't bought Apple Care so I can't call them directly. i am still under the 1 year warranty.

Has anyone tried doing replacements by calling an local Apple store?

I have a feeling they are going to just tell me its within "specifications"

Yeah, go to the Apple Store. And if those numbers are correct, that is not within spec, especially with the low amount of cycles.

And just because tecnically, your phone time with Apple is "up", you can still phone them. Apple was lenient when I phoned in with a problem and it was long past my 90 days.

Just to warn you that completely draining your battery and then charging it up again can ruin the battery very quickly. This happens with lithium ion batteries and ruins their life very quickly. Happened to me, just thought you should know.
