I have few questions about the MBP, it really picked my interest (being PC user for 20 years), cause it is a machine that I could use almost with any platform, using XP/Vista for work (Enterprise Architect, Visual Studio, Office 2007), OSX for browsing/multimedia, Linux for some other fun :), well, okay, few questions.

How is OSX installed, do u get any installation CD or anything? What about OSX filesystem - can u use some file manager like Total Commander on OSX? What if I want to install Leopard, then change my mind and want OSX Tiger back?

Can u even install ONLY Windows XP/Vista on MBP?

Does MBP have all the drivers for XP/Vista? Camera, USB, and stuff, so far I know that keyboard illumination doesnt work, is there any other problem with running Windows natively via bootcamp?

Macs come with OS X Installation Discs, so you re-install and install OS X with that. Drivers for everything are included in the Installation Disc.

If you decide you don't want Leopard (unlikely ), you can insert the OS X Tiger Installation Disc and choose to "Erase & Install".

Yes, there are ways to get rid of OS X on the Mac.

Drivers for most of the hardware is present in the current Boot Camp download. The keyboard illumination doesn't work yet, and double tapping on the trackpad is not supported yet as well. The final version of Boot Camp will be released in October.

Another question, having some industrial standards (USB 2.0, FireWire, ExpressSlot, DVI) can I use "usually" a PC hardware (providing I have drivers for OSX and Windows) - ie. external firewire harddrive, cooler (zalman NC1000), keyboards and mice, USB sticks, can I connect some whichever LCD i choose and connect the MBP through DVI

I d like to avoid shopping for these components at apple store / too expensive.

Has anybody tried to install Hitachi travelstar 7k200 200GB into MBP?

I suppose I void warranty by doing that, but if i decide after one year (warranty runs out) to upgrade, will MBP recognioze that HDD?

What RAM brands is MBP compatible with, i know that some have tried Corsairs.

What WEI (Windows Experience Index) do u have with your MBP when booting Vista through BootCamp?

Most flash drives, external hard drives, mice, keyboards, cameras, etc. all connect and are recognized in OS X fine. And yes, LCDs are supported.

I reply very quickly, yes :p. No problem, happy to help out. The MacBook Pro really is a great notebook, especially in this current trend when there's a huge interest in Apple products but users still want the ability to use the industry standard, a.k.a. Windows.

    lol...

I will be running enterprise architect and all that. So far running like a champ. I have no doubt that I can run the windows devel stuff while in OSX with vmware fusion. What I will be testing soon is if I can play a game using vmware. If not I will dual boot. Not like I should be playing games while I am working.
