...how long should i wait before powering my baby up?
ps: i just got it today, and this thing is beastly. i love it even though it has been on for a total of about 2 minutes before i started putting on the invisible shield.

Why would you wait to turn it on?

water/solvent getting into the circuitry?
-
im thinking about getting an invisible shield for my white MacBook - if you would be so kind to post some pictures with the shield applied and also supply a link of the website where you purchased. Thank You

stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
i read a review for one today and i think it said like a day or two? idk ill try to find it again.

ok, that would be really helpful - thanks
as far as pics go, i will post some once i get my hands on a camera. really, you should have no reservations getting one. as long as you have someone else help you, the application is a breeze once you "get it."
hopefully, i didn't fry any of my components.... ahhh! i really just want to mess around with it. i hope i dont have to wait two days.

sorry but i cant find it. i think aslong as you wait a day you should be fine.

alright, i couldn't wait so i just turned it on...
and its fine! one question: is the mbook supposed to make a loud beep everytime it starts up? (it did this before i applied the IS, so i'm sure its not a product of that)
thanks -
I don't understand why you would have wait to turn on your computer after applying the shield.. I don't see how the solvent will reach the circuitry in the first place.

i read a little review where a guy with an ipod had his fried because he didn't wait... i guess that sort of spooked me. regardless, all is well now.
any thoughts on the loud beep? -
-
You should allow the shield to dry for a few hours. I believe the instructions say to let it settle for 24hrs.

alright bmms8, thanks a bunch. i feel really awkward with a mac right now, having used windows for so long. these questions are pretty stupid, so i apologize.
xprohx... i couldn't wait! i turned it on after about 7 hours and everything is fine. -
) and questions are good. If you don't ask you'll never find out
. Plus, if someone knew all the answers to everything he/she'd just be a really boring person.
Anytime you've got a question, ask them here on the forums. We're happy to answer them.

what kind of loud beep? the normal mac startup chord is more like a donggggg kind of sound.
if it goes beeeeeeeep, somethings wrong.
if you can't tell one from the other - or if my description of the sound is utterly confusing - you can test if its an error sound by doing this:
1 - Start up your MacBook
2 - Turn off the sound (mute button)
3 - Restart
If you now still hear a loud beep, it's an indication of an error. If you don't hear anything then what you heard was just the normal startup sound every Mac makes and all is OK.
Either way, you can turn the sound back on now -

haha, it's definitely a "dong."
your description was very clear, much appreciated.
and to sam: i am grateful for the help - i'll be sure to ask my questions here -
I applied mine almost 4 days ago, and still have lots of water bubbles...
-
-
Yeah, I don't think I did it properly.
But in the instructions it does say that water bubbles will eventually go away.. -

after about 30 hours, most of my bubbles are gone. i think you should retry. the only marks i have, curiously, are some scratch-like things on the cover. i thought this thing was supposed to prevent against exactly that...
-
If you do it right it will look perfect after 24 hours.
-
yeah, I have an invishield on my Treo and it's got no bubbles. It's true that most of the bubbles go away. But that's if the bubbles are real real small, like 1 mm at most. It is a great product. I bought mine through www.shieldzone.com
I only let it dry for about 6 hours. It's not a solvent but just soapy water. The water lubricates the sticky side and lets you slide the shield piece into position. As the water dries, the adhesive attaches itself. So use plenty of soapy water not only on the adhesive side, but on your fingers so you don't get finger prints or dirt on the adhesive. If you run out of the soapy water they give you, just take a cup of water and stir a few drops of dish soap in it. Viola. Soapy water, just like in the labs!!! -
I always use BSE, baby soap with water (in 24hrs it almost looks like it is ready, for my ipod I waited 48hrs) as much as I wanted to use it, I could imagine what might happen.
I purchased for my macbook and returned it before getting BSE in mail :>, I'll hold on to it till purchase new mac. -
still waiting for pics..
