hey, my 15" MBP recently got stolen so I'm shopping for a replacement.
    my fund is around $1500,

so the option is last gen's duo 2.66 which has stronger GPU, or Quad 2.0 with weaker GPU.

Sure I can get new windows laptop, but from the stories I hear, they are all pain in the to be serviced. with apple, I can just walk to apple store and get it fixed there.

I play game occasionally nothing fancy, WoW or some warcraft.

    What should i get............

New one, no questions. GPU is "weaker" yes, but GDDR5 picks some of the slack that the otherwise less card would lead you to believe. Honestly, the 6490 isn't THAT bad; the 330m wasn't exactly a world beater either. Expect a 15-20% difference at MOST between the two cards.

    Processor wise? No competition.

    EDIT: Here you go:

The Sandy Bridge quad-core i7 will also pick up some slack from the GPU. All around, the new 15" is much more powerful than last year's models. It might have a slightly weaker GPU but the all around package is better. Even the Intel HD 3000 graphics are world's better than last year's GMA 4500MHD integrated option (you want to use the integrated GPU while on a battery and fire up the dedicated one when you are actually playing games).

Of course, this assumes you are under Mac OS X and running Windows on last year's or this year's MBP will cause the dedicated GPU to stay on all the time and drastically decrease your battery life (using Windows as the majority OS also pretty much invalidates any point to buying a MBP or any other Mac).

2.3 quad is useless, get the 2.2 quad, you will see no performance difference with the 2.3 quad ie the 2820qm. Get the 2.0 or the 2.2 instead.

I have the 2.66 and while i enjoy the 320m i would say you should get the newer version if you can.
