I had no luck in the After market section, thought I'd go straight to the Mac users.
I'm looking for an external sound card to support Optical (5.1 Surround Sound) for my mac. Also is there a converter for (Optical out minijack) to a regular Optical Out(5.1 support)? I would probably use Windows to watch movies on blu-ray so it doesn't have to support OS X. Do these cards have a big delay in sound to video? Thank you!

Every Mac has optical audio output. So you'll just need a mini-TOSlink adapter. Most optical cables come with them, but not all do.

It basically looks like a plastic headphone cable that plugs right into the jack.

Keep in mind that your GPU drivers (and external display, as well as display output, if you plan to use those) need to be HDCP certified for blu-ray/HD-DVD playback. I don't know if the drivers Apple provides for Windows are HDCP certified.

Thank you very much. You've been my biggest help so far. I figured there was an adapter out there somewhere just needed the name. As far as the drivers go, they will hopefully be out by Q1 of 2008 but it's doubtful. Thanks again!
