My new iPad starting dropping the Wifi signal. It happened twice this evening and the only way to get it back was to reboot the Tablet. Is this normal or should I be on the lookout for potential problems?

I'm still within my 30 days so I guess I could get a replacement.

MacBook Pros sometimes have WiFi issues. I've not heard anything similar with regard to the iPad. Exchange it if you can.

I would exchange it only if you were close to the wi-fi source. Being far away from the wi-fi router and experiencing a dropout is normal. This happens to me all the time when I am on campus in certain rooms that don't have their own wi-fi routers/network extenders. However, if you are only a few feet away from the router and it is doing this (and there aren't any other 2.4/5GHz broadcasting devices that are interfering), you may have problems.

Apple released an iOS update not too long ago that should have fixed this but I have read that some models are still affected. Oddly enough, it appears to be plaguing the wi-fi only models. The antenna on the back of the 4G iPad 3's seems to be helping and not causing issues (unless their is a weak source signal).

Oh-kay looks like a replacement might be in order. I was less that 2 feet away from the wifi source. I found this last night after I made my post but don't know if these are BS articles.

I am not sure if those articles are true or not. I have my doubts since two of them use the word "reportedly" in the title and the other is from 9to5Mac. Either way, you should be able to get a replacement no matter what though I think you will be limited to getting a refurbished unit if you are outside of the 14 day return period. According to Apple's return policy information, only the iPhone falls within a 30 day return period. Everything else is only 14 days.

Sucks i'm out of the 14 day window. I'll just wait and see if it gets worse. Hopefully it doesn't and it was a freak thing.

    I'll give that a try, thanks ! :)

That shouldn't matter. I can be a foot away from my router with my iPhone and it will work perfectly fine.

could cause problems. if it's working, that's fine, but if you're having problems, it might be worth trying to move slightly further away

Huffington Post is reputable mainstream media, and Arstechnica is a pretty respected tech site. They both reference the original 9to5mac story as their source; as to the validity of the document obtained by 9to5mac, they have a decent track record with docs like this so this is all likely legitimate. "Reportedly" is used because Apple rarely issues public statements or confirmation of product replacement policies (iPhone 4 a glaring exception), and since independent confirmation from Apple is not forthcoming the document is treated as a limited source.

Talk to AppleCare or go to Apple Store and discuss replacement.

Yeah the closest Apple Store is in Tampa, Florida and that's over 2 hours.
