Each iOS app offers different methods to access files on a server. Dropbox, FTP, WebDAV are some of the common methods shared in many apps. But again, it is app specific as there is no standard shared file system in iOS.

I can connect to my Snap NAS serves using a v2 iPod touch. Just just point the browser toward the IP address and you should be good.

Ive tried that. I entered AFP:// server address into Safari, but it couldn't find it.

"cannot open page Safari cannot open the page because the address in invalid"

On the macbook go to Finder, choose Go > "Connect to Server." and enter AFP:// server address which takes me to a login page.

I'm connected by wifi only. I turned off cellular data to make sure of it.

Afp is apples file transfer protocol and not the same as http which is the protocol safari needs. That is why it is saying its invalid.

Again, you it is dependent on the application that you want to open the file in.

File explorer app. 2.99 in the market. Works for what I wanted, but is buggy. Random closes.

    Thanks !
