People commenting on YouTube say it doesn't work with other sites. Downloading it now, will come back with comments...
Well, first thing I tried was Starcraft2.com. Failed.
Then I tried Gametrailers.com, but it does have quicktime support...
Megavideo works though, but I never even heard of this site before. (edit: and it's real buggy, made Safari crash 2 times, it's buffering like crazy on my 20Mbit connection - I watch HD trailers and stuff on-the-fly, but for some reason Megavideo keeps buffering)
So as I see it:
- Youtube works out of the box
- Gametrailers has quicktime support
- REAL flash sites like starcraft2.com and diablo3.com don't work.
Conclusion? Not real flash for the iPhone.
Sorry... -
I really don't think Flash on the iPhone is a good idea, it would be better for web developers to develop HTML and Flash capable sites depending on the device used. batteries just aren't capable enough to make Flash a viable solution, it requires to much power for it to function well on a handheld device, and by well I mean not absolutely tearing through the battery.
in many instances, Flash is a bad thing, even on a normal computer, it really limits how the user can interact with the site in many ways, with search, text interaction, amongst many other things. Flash sites are good at experience, not always so great on functionality. Until there is a major update to how Flash works, I don't think it should be a major worry of Apple.
anyone who wants their site available on the iPhone just needs to develop an iPhone app, or redevelop their site for HTML, which is quite simple in the overall scheme of things. and people that don't want their site available on the iPhone are twats, and will lose a lot of viewers because of it.
basically all the Flash sites that do not have an iPhone app, probably aren't really worth spending your time at anyway. unless you are a fiend. -
YouNoob. Flash is a battery eater.

I agree to some extent that Flash is terrible for Handhelds. It's the same idea that's been tossed around that people want to play AVI and MKV on a handheld and hate to do conversions.
The point is, Flash is designed for desktops and it's not optimized for handhelds.
Adobe should come out with a mobile or portable Flash API for use on handhelds.
If someone give you a heavy flash content website, the experience differs on a desktop and handheld.
This is the same idea that same i-diot wants to play Bluray video rip on an iPhone. -
iPhone: Finally! Flash!
