I got it, because for one, I never got the January Software Upgrade so it was an added benefit for me. The new 2.0 update is really minimal, its main point is the addition of the App Store (which is huge). Other than the App Store, not much.

I guess it's worth it if you have a burning desire to install one of the apps from the app store, if not, just wait for a killer app, or for the IM push system that will come in september.

The only useful apps I've seen are the remote, super monkey balls (i know its not spelled like that, i just like to say balls), the texas holdem game (only for the multiplayer, love poker, but dont always have chips), and netter's flash cards on anatomy neuroscience etc (im 2nd year med student, among other things), anyway theyre cheap compared to what ive seen them in physical form...

other than that though, the app store launch was pretty meh... i have hope for the future though. Apps I want:

office editing app, at least excel and word
    live messenger
push IM (already confirmed for september)

I know theres AgileMessenger and Appolo IM apps for the 1.1.4. They both support AIM + MSN/WL and i think Yahoo as well.

i think AM is awesome, it supports MSN, the main form of internet chatting in Australia, and AIM doesnt. That is one of the main reasons why i dont want to upgrade to 2.0 lol. hey this is weird. WTH?this is like !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are quite a few more useful ones. It all depends on what suits your needs/wants. Im using Crash Bandicoot, Spanish and French phrase books, Aurora Feint, Epocrates, Shazam, Mobile News, and Pandora. Most if not all of these should work on the touch as well as the iPhone.

Ok, so I found a way to downgrade to 1.1.4, but I keep getting a 1601 error. The process is relatively simple, download 1.1.4 firmware, put the ipod in DFU mode and restore using the downloaded firmware. I'm gonna try one last time tonight.

alright guys. I figured I'd show you what my ipod looks like now that I downgraded to 1.1.4 firmware and installed alternative apps....they are all alternatives to the ones that apple charges you for. except labyrinth and pool which are trials....still have a couple days left to enjoy them :D
