I am curious about a few things:
- Why isn't there a camera on it like the iphone?
- Is it a good time to buy, or will better iTouchs come out?
- Anything else?
-
It's already close enough to an iPhone, if you want a camera, get an iPhone is the message from Apple.
And the 32 gig just came out and the SDK is on the way, so I guess now is a good a time as any. -
I'd buy an iPhone. It's an iTouch plus a camera and a phone
-
- The iTouch is a great device! I don't think they are going integrate a camera into it unless it will become a PDA device (kind of is starting to be).
- I wouldn't recommend you buying it from a retailer yet as so because there is going to be a $100 price drop for the 16GB iPod Touch and the 8GB iPhone sometime later. -
i bought a 16 gig iPod Touch for $319 from CompUSA since they are going out of business.

lmao, since when is the iPod touch called an iTouch?
At first I thought it was that logitech keyboard that has existed since like 10 years ago. Well the "iTouch" doesn't have a camera, because Apple probably wants to differentiate the product from their iPhone. It's probably a good time to buy now since it was just updated a couple of weeks ago.

1) Well, while we're talking about a lack of features, why can't it make phone calls too?!
I guess its just another way Apple is using to distinguish between the two lines.
2) I think its a pretty good time now. The 32 GB iPod Touch just came out, so at least its not going to get any significant update anytime soon. -

I'd say that its a great time to buy in. BUT, rumors are flying around that a $100 price drop is around the corner. I don't see it, but I am a bit concerned why Apple would reduce the price so soon like they did with the iPhone. If anything, the SDK would eventually make it possible to do a bunch of things, like, oh say... make phone calls with a minor add-on for a microphone! Or even take pictures with a small camera add-on even... Photobooth on the iTouch sounds very cool.

Thanks everyone for their comments! Oops, who knew itouch, ipod touch?
Sorry for confusion. I think I'll wait a while, and see if the prce drops
Thanks again

Amazon has a promotion going for the 32 GB iPod Touch, where you get a 1 GB shuffle for free with the purchase of the touch. I'm now regretting getting the 8GB model... should have sprung for the 32GB because I have a ton of things to load on it.

Just got an iphone, its an amazing piece of hardware... but its also limited. I'm hoping that the skd will change all that. My gut feeling is that the iphone will get "more" app's functionality than the ipod touch. Apple likes to keep there products well separated. I can see voip coming for the iphone but I think that apple will not be happy, nor will at&t etc, about that feature on an ipod, it would reduce the need for people to buy an iphone, and an expensive carrier plan.

If you want a PROPER MP4 player with good storage, get the iPod classic. Don't even think of the iTouch. Else, just get iPhone and sell your current mobile phone, if any.
-
I would expect 32GB of flash memory will cost half of what it does now within a year. -
I dont want the phone part guys, I purely want it to music, videos, internet and e-mail. The bills for the hone part are to expensive.
I'd love if they put sms text on there, how much, around, ould that cost monthly? And Can I get any more info on what teh sdk is and when it coming? what will it bring?! -
One thing that comes to mind that the upcoming SDK can bring is the ability to view Microsoft Office documents and Adobe PDF documents. Currently the only way to view a PDF is by emailing it to yourself and using the Mail program on the iTouch to view it. Having the SDK would allow me to develop an application for viewing PDF's much easier.
One other idea I have is the ability to sync files that iTunes won't sync for you. It would be awesome to have some automatic process for that. Unless there's something already out there that does it...
A third thing I'd like to see is an RSS reader. The SDK can be used to develop an application for that as well.
So you see, the SDK brings lots of possibilities. Maybe even coming up with an application for chatting on the iTouch through the wireless network. -
If I bought one now, and the sms text came out after, then would there be a update that I could install on the touch or would only the newer verisons have teh texting?
-
Well, if it's like the last update, then yes, you'll be able to update it later.
Once the SDK is out for the iPhone, the possibilities could be endless if it works for the iPod touch too. -

Texting would never be an option on the iPod Touch. There would be even less room for competition with the iPhone. It's like the new MB/MBP. Notice how they gave the MBP the multi-touch trackpad, but not the MB.
