    Hello all,

    Im new to this forum.
Recently I received an iBook g3 from my brother. It has Mac OS X 10.0 running on it, which is quite outdated. so I saved up a bit and bought Tiger on ebay.

What I got was some CDs that apparently came with an iBook G4, and when I try to install this on my G3 I get a "this software cannot be installed on this computer" error.

This is really frustrating, as I spent about $50 for these CDs, and cant afford another $129 to get the retail version. Is there any way to get around this?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Restore disks from Apple are model specific, so I don't think there is a way to get past or around this... Have you tried to contact the vendor you bought it from yet? They may have some sort of return policy if you contact them....

put your computer into disk mode, and install with the mac that the repair specific OS is for. my brother had 10.4 for his mini, and i installed it on my powerbook this way.

    I was...

So I saved up and purchased Tiger OS X 10.4.3
After installing it and the updates, I now have Tiger 10.4.6, Great!

However, last night I tried to load some DVDs... I inserted the disk, my iBook G3 read it, and spit out the disk... WTF!!!!!

My other IBM PCs read these burned DVDs just fine!

I know my DVD drive works fine, since I just installed Tiger using a DVD... any idea on whats going on???

    Please Help!
