How do I make it make it automatically delete all the past backups.

When I delete from backup prefrences, it says it's deleted but it should be in Trash but it's not? So it's not really deleted and taking spaces?

Where can I locate the backups in Finder to delete it? When I run Disk Inventory it takes too much time to sort things out.

Backup deletion is manual only. I don't think you can create and AppleScript to do it.

Deletions from the System folders don't always end up in Trash. Check in the Library subfolder to confirm they're gone - Step 2 in this article.

Backups deleted using iTunes won't show up in the Trash bin either, they are simply deleted. You shouldn't have to worry about the backups taking that much space up though. Each backup only contains the syncing information for each iOS device. All of the apps, media, photos, etc. are stored in your iTunes library (and your iPhoto library) and they aren't duplicated in the backup. I deleted 5 different backups from various devices (my iPad 1, iPad 2, 4G iPod touch, and a few other things) and it freed up about an additional 200MB on my Mac's internal drive. That's nothing to get all excited over and I am not quite sure how the backups take up 50-100GB on systems.

I found an article similar to the one that has been linked to but my issue is I don't have a Library folder in my user location for OS X Lion. So I can't specifically check to see how much space the folder takes up right now (or before I deleted the files). I just did it by examining my primary HDD as a whole before and after I deleted the backups.

Is there a way to make it sync but not backup? It takes just way too much time to have all that music downloaded again and again each sync.

If you check the box for Sync with iCloud, then it won't backup when plugged in to iTunes. But it shouldn't be up/downloading music with every sync unless you have it set to sync a full library or playlists that have changed within iTunes since last connection.

If your music and/or videos on the iPod haven't changed, then the sync should be pretty fast. However, if you've bought any music or videos from the iTunes Store using the iPod Touch, then it will download the files onto iTunes when you connect to sync - the only way around this is to set iTunes to automatically download new music from iCloud and then it will already be there (and thus no need to download from the Touch on sync).

Usually any new apps will download with each sync, which can take a while if you've added a bunch or have a couple of large file size games, and this happens regardless of backup setting (iCloud or iTunes).

Perhaps you can be more specific about what you're doing and what's happening? Can be difficult to be more helpful when we don't know what your specific symptoms are ...

I haven't changed any music, but after it backups it downloads more than 200 songs from scratch.
