so it is worth getting one now or wait for any new models in 2011 (not in a huge rush) a 15" is larger than I need as I have a 17" HP Elitebook now.

Sandy bridge isn't going to be out for a while, and my guess is that apple won't adopt it as quickly as their pc counterparts. My guess is that you will have to wait long into 2011 before you see a MBP refresh.

Thanks I had a feeling that was the case, looks like I will grab one next week then.

MBP 13 isn't worth the money i think if your gonna get MBP get the real i5 and i7
-
-
of course its worth the money. Just because something newer (intel I5, etc..) comes out, doesn't mean the older things (Core 2 Duos) turn into junk. People who think its "not worth it" are the type that usually have to have the latest and greatest, even if all the do is email and could use a 486. The current 13" MBP is an awesome little machine.

I have an i7 quad core with 12 gigs of ram in my Windows 7/ Free BSD system now. That unit is 17" and huge but a great desktop replacement.
I want something to travel with and a 15" does not fit the airline tray table
14" is what i am looking for to do everything i need including network stuff.
Perfect balance of weight, battery etc.
Although the i5 or i7 would have been nice, i will never use it in this notebook. -
Now that I have had owned both the 15" MBP and 13" MBP I think it is best to buy the 15" MBP if you already have another laptop like the X201s. My $.02.. -
You know I'm a gamer, with my desktop and my 17 inch alienware both with i5's and i7's in that order. But of course both of those systems have beefy videocards with dual ATI 5870's in both of them. But I felt having a hardcore CPU was a necessity along with those GPU's. However I'm still wondering if an i7 was really worth it in my 15 inch macbook pro. I don't plan on gaming on this as this is my work/school PC but I went with it anyways because I could..... but I've noticed it gets quite hot under it. I just can't help but ponder if I would have less heat and maybe batter battery life if I went with a 2009 Core 2 Unibody.

go with the 13 inch, more mobile, pretty fast for everyday task, is it just me or does it feel good to own a macbook pro thats deemed "old" already that is no longer in production
-
I already have a monster of a desktop, I just needed something portable with decent battery life and a lovely screen for my photo editing.
Granted core2duo isn't the latest and greatest out there but I have never had any slowdowns on the 13" MBP.
The only time I had a slowdown was making a panorama in Photoshop CS4 ... But hey, that file was 108 megapixels large ... It was expected. -
Thanks everyone,
Looks like i will grab one on Friday now. 13" is the way i want to go, i used a x200s and x201s for some time and the screen is just not what i wanted.
My 17" is just bigger then i want, the notebook at work is well married to work. the 13" will run Pure OSX and is right up my alley and what i am looking for. -
Check out MacMall. Good place to get one from. They're about $50 cheaper, free shipping and possibly no sales tax.
-
I guess Im a complete because I no longer game with a PC/Mac, only use mine for mail, music, web, and CS. So I opted for the 2.4ghz, 250gb MBP since I wanted something compact with good power, and a small heat signature...
Horsepower isnt always the greatest thing, dont sway the uninformed. -
i too enjoy my 13" c2d. Does the job well.
-
MBP 13" is pretty impressive, especially the graphics in it(relatively-speaking).
looking at a 13" Macbook Pro
