Downloading the update now, I hope it fixes the issue with my 2019 MBP which has a Vega Pro 20 where if I set the resolution to any scaling other than the default my laptop would go into a black screen if I reboot.

I am a new Mac User, just switched to Windows after using it for all my life basically. I bought the latest MacBook Pro 15 fully specced out with the Vega Pro 20 as well.

I updated to Catalina from day one and I couldn't for the life of me figure what's causing this issue, basically, if I changed the scaling from the default to let's say 1440x900 which looks best on my screen due to the 2:1 ratio scaling, everything works fine until I reboot then as the boot loading bar reaches 70%, the screen just goes black and I'd have to force shutdown the laptop anywhere between 1 to 10 times until it finally boots. I formatted many times but no luck. so I downgraded to Mojave for a while and that issue was gone. see the details here:

Downgraded to Mojave, best thing I ever did!

Contacted Apple Support about this but they were of no help but I did leave feedback on the Apple Feedback site regarding the issue and provided them with logs.

It seems like I was the only guy along with 1 more member on Mac Rumors forum with my exact same laptop specs who had this issue. I think there was no proper support for the Vega Pro 20 or something because others who only have an integrated graphics or other Vega Pro models had no issues.

I just upgraded to Catalina 10.15.1, changed the DPI scaling to what I like (1440x900) and rebooted a few times and it worked!! Finally I can enjoy my laptop the way it was meant to be. That was the only issue I was facing with Catalina I had non of the sync issues and whatnot that others were complaining about perhaps because I did a clean install of the previous supplemental update along with a clean install of iOS 13.1.3 on my iPhone 11 Pro.

    Amazing :)

In iOS, you cannot have more than two active “focused” apps onscreen at the same time, but that’s not the case on a Mac.

How Apple could get this so wrong, when products like Timing and Time Sink have gotten it right for so long, is perplexing.

Forget Screen Time! Track Your App Usage in macOS Catalina with These Alternatives

The Screen Time feature first appeared in iOS 12 to help you monitor your app usage on iPhone and iPad. It’s now on macOS Catalina, with one major flaw: it only shows how long apps are open, not how long you use them.

Fortunately, there are alternatives to Screen Time that are far better at tracking your screen time than Apple’s built-in tool.

I’ve had multiple issues with Catalina on the 16” MBP so far. Anyone else facing recurring instability/issues?

I had Safari crash and I couldn’t re open it or even force quit Safari after it got stuck. The OS wouldn’t let me shutdown saying Safari was still active. I killed all Safari related processes via activity monitor, then tried “top” command in terminal to find PID of any residual Safari services and kill but didn’t find anything so ended up forcing reboot in terminal.

I later had a few more apps including the built in preview app just get stuck and most recently I watched a video of a game mod in Steam itself and it locked up my entire laptop with a black screen after the video finished except for the touchbar. Edit: Cmnd-Option-Esc finally worked with the Steam issue.

Not a single issue here bro on my MBP 16. I received the laptop then was immediately offered a supplemental update, setup the MBP as new, nothing migrated from the previous MBP 15 that I had, installed all my apps and everything is working perfectly, not a single crash.
