I own a refurbished black Macbook 2.0ghz 512mb and 80gig hdd, intel dual core and have never had any heat problems what so ever.

Nope. Only the very first units had problems. SMC updates fixed that. Perhaps there was also a hardware change too.
The MBP had the real problem with heat on the early CD units, but they fixed the issues after a few months.
But the C2D units do run cooler than the CD. -
it still gets hot though, i mean... it s the truth. I was ding some finalcut work with the computer (2.33 latest generation) on my laps last night and it was definitely warm..
doesn t really bother me tho. -
Final Cut actually taxes the system though. Not the same as doing light work.
All laptops get hot if using anything that puts them under stress.
And Final Cut isn't UB yet is it?
I have a friend who uses his MB for surfing, coding, watching movies and stuff. He says it never really gets hot. -
thanks for all the comments!
the reason i asked this is because my old powerbook G4 1.0GHZ gets so hot that you can litterallly fried an egg on its back.. hehe -

Just to quantify, my MacBook case temperature usually stabilizes at around 85F and the CPU sits at around 130F. This machine is usually on 12-20 hours a day 5 days a week and maybe 4-8 hours a day on weekends. I tend to run a LOT of stuff at once, although mostly business apps. Even when the fan really kicks in (seldom) it tends to bring the temperatures back down to the area I mention above (+-5F).
Usually the heat sync is a few degrees lower than the CPU and my 2gb chip runs a few decrees higher than my 1gb chip (115F-120F)
