so if anyone with a 360 knows (i dont have one, ill have one in two monthes from my room mate for college.) they have the windows media center built into the 360 to play music and movies from your computer. does this work with mac's if they are on the same network? do would i have to boot into a windows via bootcamp to access that type of feature.

i'm really just wondering if the 360 just searches for a folder and sees the files or if it needs windows to do it. thanks.

d/l a program on osx called connect360, it can sync directly with your mac to the xbox 360 to stream .wmv movies and with a newer update you can play other files as well, works great with 1080p .wmv files with dts, aac, ac3.

First in preferences go to the connect360 and make sure to setup the folder where you want to dump your .wmv movies, I think with the newer update it supports divx and mp4 I believe.. my xbox 360 got banned just before I got to do the update.. but I only use the 360 to play .wmv bluray/hddvd movies.

^^ what he said. I looked for a free alternative but never found one. I think that's your only option.

I generally just put my movies on a flash drive and transfer them.

You could also hook up an external hard drive to it, thats what I do sometimes. The xbox will recognize the hard drive as one of its hard drives and then you can play stuff off it.

I agree with jjahshik32. Connect 360 is awesome! It even plays my xvid and mkv videos, which Windows doesn't support without additional software

You just need a converter to convert videos to mp4 format that compatible with Xbox 360.
Then connect your Mac and Xbox 360, and you can play the video files on 360 on Mac.
Here is a guide in detail.

Same here. I just installed it and it recognized everything on my hard drive. So good!
