I turn my mbp off before going to bed and when i try to turn it on in the morning it wont turn on(or at least the display). Everything seems to be turning on, but the display wont show. I have to hold down the power button and restart it for the screen to come on. After that, i can boot it up fine. This happens to me every morning whenever i try to turn it on after it has been off for hours.

    My question.
how do i fix this so that when i press the power button it turns on every time with no problem?
    does anybody have this issue?

Edit: Stuff i have done to try and fix this
    1. reset pram
    2. hold down power button to reset power thingy

It sounds like it's not shutting down completely before you close the lid. Try this, just shut it down and keep the lid open.
Mine sometimes has trouble coming out of sleep.
then again, 75% of the time it comes out of sleep, it thinks theres another monitor connected.

I had a very similar problem with one of mine. If I put it to sleep for an extended period of time, like over night, the screen would not come on. Call Apple.

thanks for replies, but its not because i shut the lid too fast. This is very strange because it boots up normally but when i cool it down so that the macbook is cold it wont boot up.

Has anyone had problems with booting up a kinda coldish macbook?

I am just throwing this out here but does the macbook have to be room temperature like all other computer things to run?

Hrm, ever since the update that was "supposed" to fix sleep issues, mine will not come out of sleep if it's kept in sleep over night. This literally just started happening over the past few days.

It doesn't have anything to do with being room temperature, as far as I know.

OK, I don’t have a MB, or MBP for that matter, but this very issue happens every so often with my Toshiba tablet PC; I couldn’t for the life of me figure out any pattern to this weird issue so I just live around it and use the on / off switch.

Does anyone know how to ensure it to do a soft shutdown when this happens? It is not a happy camper when I hold down the power button to shut it off. It boots back okay, but it takes a bit to see the XP partition plus it has a few other minor issues when this happens.

    Hey!
I just found a solution to my problem with it not turning on the display sometimes after it's been asleep for several hours.
I have to plug in the external monitor, then the main screen turns on and everything works. It's still not fun to have to deal with this problem...
