    Hi,

i'm thinking of getting a mac book, either pro or regular, and i wanted to know if i could get the standard SATA hard drive and just upgrade to SSD later on? or do I have to get it with the notebook directly from apple when i buy it?

many posts in the hardware forum have shown mac users successfully installing aftermarket SSDs. (OCZ Vertex, Samsung 256GB from memory, but probably many more)

Yes, you can. It will upgrade to an ssd just as easily as to a mechanical hard drive.

Any 2.5inch SATA SSD will work fine with your MB, just as a regular HDD would. ;)

EDIT: RogueMonk beat me to it...
