I have a macbook. What do I need to do to hook up an old CRT monitor that is VGA only?

a mini-dvi to vga adaptor, should set u back ~$30. If u have a alu mb then you will need the newer display port to vga adaptor, which is about the same price.

Can I get one other them from Apple to save money? I have the older plastic macbook with a GMA 950.

I've never seen a third party adaptor, so I don't think so. But you might be able to find the older dvi-vga on ebay/amazon or something for a bit less then normal retail.

Dynex makes them and they are a bit cheaper. The last time I picked up an Apple branded device, it was $19, the Dynex is $17. I have seen them in-store at Best Buy.
