I wonder if its possible to swap the base i5 2410m in the mbp 13 to the i7 2630qm, since the cooling of the laptop as far as I see was planned with the previous version in mind, thus raising the tdp. So I wonder if its possible to do that

you would need to swap the logic board as the CPU is soldered to the board.

oh dammm!!!

I'm not sure whether the new Intel CPUs are soldered to the logic board as the Core 2 Duo MBPs used socket CPUs. However, the truth of that is irrelevant given that the MBP13 couldn't possibly handle the cooling necessary for such a CPU.

yep I was just reading that apple dont use the i5 2410m but the i5 2415m, which uses the same connector as an ulv processor, so no dice at all
-
it has been a VERY long tie since any MB/MBP had a socketed CPU. AFIK cpu swaps have not been possible since ... im not sure my G3 and G4 were soldered on too.
-
So all the Core 2 Duo MBPs have been soldered? I always thought they were socketed.
-
i cant vouch for ALL of them but all the ones I have had as well as the ones at iFixit have been.

Ah darn it, my MBP model (13", mid-2010) is also soldered.

all Intel Mac laptops Apple has ever made are all soldered on.. no sockets.
mbp 13 swap to i7 2630qm?
