how would you say the mbp glossy screen compares to other manufacturer's glossy screens? for example, the sony xbrite, fujitsu or hp brightview, etc.

are the blacks less/more deep? are the colors less/more saturated? is the contrast higher/lower?

I've found the contrast and colors of the MB and MBP to be above average of most laptops I see in libraries and at companies I've done work for.

From what I have seen seeing hundreds of notebooks and LCD's is as long as it's a good company it's pretty good. Now some of the off brands are the iffy ones.

I have the glossy, and it's the best laptop screen I've ever worked on! The colors seem much more saturated, and the blacks "blacker". It's a beautiful thing!

The LED screen is amazing. It improved upon apples already great screen design.

Specific to the glossy, I don't know in comparison to the screens you listed but, overall the glossy is nice. I generally don't like glossy screens(I have a matte), but the MBP screen is not as bad as most in terms of glare. I guess that's because it's not quite as glossy as the others I've seen, but the effect for me is nice.

It seems that a lot of the new SR Mbps are having yellow tinting problems, particularly in the lower 1/3 of the screen. The LG screens seems to have the problem less often than the samsung screens.

But the glossy is nice - even though I chose the matte. I chose matte because of its anti-glareness. No glare = the best.

I haven't used the SR MBPs, but I have used both the glossy and matte screens on the older MBP. And honestly, there is very little difference between the two.
There is more glare on the glossy one, but it's fairly low glare. I hardly ever have a problem with that. Colors are also a bit more vibrant on the glossy, but more "even" on the matte.

i've found that glossy screen is hard to maintain. the dust/fingerprints is easily visible on the screen, it is somewhat easier to scratch and hard to clean. streak is almost alway occur when cleaning it with water.

they are somewhat easier on the eyes for reading though :)
