    So in theory if I did get a new macbook, I would also need to buy two stupid dongles at $30 for hdmi and dvi?? what the crap is with that?

    I've been looking for the adapters on monoprice but so far no luck. Good news is there's a DP - HDMI adapter for $13, so hopefully the mini version will be similar.

    Why do you say that? I thought the whole point of going with DP was because it's not proprietary? Does Apple have exclusive rights to the mini port or something?

    I understand, but what makes you think Apple is the only retailer that will sell the adapters?

    You can probably get them off of ebay if you really wanted them for cheap.

    It's not proprietary, I just think Apple is one of the first company's to use it, so it's hard to find.
