i am happy with the trackpad so far as to say i can use it everyday without a problem...
but when it comes to things that requires a little bit more precision, it doesn't quite cut it, what are some recommendation about this?
i am currently using a evolution vx(a little bigger than nano vx) and looking for a replacement
i have tried the wireless mightly mouse and it isn't all that great...
i am rather interested in razer and i don't mind the cord floating around soemtimes, but what about their support with mac?
i am also interested in the bluetrack mouse offered by MS, is that bluetrack technology really so far and above lasers? since using a notebook i will be using my mouse on various surface and at times when trackpad becomes a better tool it annoys me a little(that means i am out of option)
thanks

Razer mice work fine in osx. They dont have a config program like in windows, so if you want to change the keys, youll have to do it in bootcamp/vmware.
Never heard of bluetrack, so i cant comment.
My razer mouse from a couple of years ago, works on every surface i put it on. My razer bluetooth mouse, also is a really good mouse, works in small spaces too. Personally I'm happy with razer, and they have good customer support too. -
+1 for Razer Pro|Click mobile on bluetooth

i suppose the vx revolution is as small as i am willing to put my hand on a mouse without hurting my wrist too bad and i'd like some more buttons to play with as well since i really like the forward/backward and good scrolling on a mouse...
the vx is serving me well but i really want "better" interms of tracking different kinds of surfaces
i did a search online about the different sensors, their conclusion does not seem to answer my question...
from what i read:
bluetrack: works, and laser just the same (i can only say this is either a lousy review, or MS is pointless, i am betting on the first)
another review say that bluetrack even works on mirror!
laser: benchmark
razor: besides really great and really good and great for games, i am not hearing anything else about surface versatility, i guess everyone that uses razor have a mouse pad or something? -
Yeah I use a non-plastic (cloth) mouse pad. Those work the best anyways.

Apple mouse sucks really really bad. I tried microsoft mouse wireless optical 3000, microsoft laser presentation mouse 8000 bluetooth, logitech keyboard and mouse combo (wireless, not bluetooth) and all this mice are really bad responding. The apple mighty wireless is the worse by far, but the others are no good either if you need something sharp. I hate lag, and they all lag a lot.
For now I am using Logitech G5 (wired!) which is pretty good, still not as good as using it with my PC/windows.
From other posts I have a list of mice that might work over bluetooth, I will have to buy them from BestBuy or something where I can easily return them (I already have 5 mice for my MBP). People say the Bluetooth Razor Pro Click and the Logitech v470 are good with no issues (and hopefully no lag). I will also try the Microsoft Mouse for Mac, maybe maybe ... who knows ...
Any way, the bluetooth receiver in the MBP sucks over Leopard, works great under Vista(still MBP) so I guess it's just drivers who don't do the proper job/response. Are there any ways to change the bluetooth drivers?
Since only wired mouse work decent, I suppose I am stuck with the wire for now, until Apple fixes the problem. Is it really just me complaining or it's Apple so backwords in some issues? -
i am thinking if i should get a notebook sleeve for the mbp as a mousepad whie i am out, i would still prefer a little better in tracking if possible
anyone think M$ will be updating their whole mouse lineup with bluetrack later?
what about the 3G/4G razor optical sensor? are they better than laser? -

Microsoft Bluetooth 5000: the click wheel is so hard to spin that my index finger started to hurt. The shape of the mouse is too slanted in the front, so my fingers tend to rest a little high on the mouse clickers, not the best as far as leverage, so it's a little harder to click than it should be. Shame really, as the mousing action is actually very good on this mouse. Uses lighter AAA batteries as well.
Logitech VX470 Bluetooth: Mouse wheel and click action good, but the mouse action is a little bit sloppy. AA batteries make it a little heavy. I almost stayd with this mouse, but, eventually I found the mouse precision to be a little lacking.
Microsoft Basic Optical (wire- $20): Great mouse. Cheap. Tracking is a little bit slow on the mac.
My new mouse (wire - $25): Logitech LS1. Love it. Fast tracking, great mouse precision, the click action is light. The wheel is ok. Could scroll a little easier but it's nothing like the M$ bluetooth.
I'm also left handed, so, that ruled quite a few mice out.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: After trying a couple of wireless mice, I'm back to the wire. Logitech LS1. Great mouse at a decentd price. -
i might actually be looking for a wired mouse UNLESS the bluetrack is promising if not, i am not seeing how companies could improve on the handling and etc against the vx revolution (maybe a smaller size USB... yes but nano doesn't have the zoom button)
so the center of debate for me will be between razor/M$ bluetrack
i am not a professional gamer(nor i play much over on computer, psp is handy) so the precision might not be so overblown to me
i will be doing some photo editings (LR, PS) over my mbp 15.4", hence the ultra precision wouldn't be needed either (2000dpi will be too much)
i have been using wireless for ages, but because of the great trackpad on the mac, i don't quite need a mouse unless i really need one; wired should be fine then. (except for zoom, finger gestures can do everything the vx revolution does)
editing and gaming will be where the mouse is required, internet browsing, pornography (fingers still on the mouse?) are find with just the trackpad

I'm using a razer copper head, it's great the cords are light and thin I don't even notice it. For mac you can download steermouse so you can program the buttons and adjust stuff. But that cost $20 there is a free one I just don't remember. If anyone does please tell me XD
*edit* I just read something that said the razer pro drivers will work with the death adder I will see if they work with my copperhead.
*Edit2* The razer Pro divers did not work. And USB overdrive is the free OS X driver. -
might try razer later i guess, while bluetooth mouses are handier, i found RF to be sufficient (logitech driver is really great even in mac)
but anyone here every try a few more mouse? come on
thanks
ps. anyone here lives in edmonton know of where razors are sold? -
deathadder and the new lachies are found on futureshop, with the 20dollars difference, should i pay more?
-
i almost bought one of the razor today...
but the price tag seems to be a little untempting after a round in holt renfrew christmas-gf gift -_-'
i really need a huge confidence vote to swallow the cost, anyone? -

VX Revolution. $10 AR. I would just get this unless you are a hardcore FPS gamer. -
i do have one which i bought last year for 40CAD and it is still functioning great
right now i am thinking i would either wait for newer bluetracks with more buttons, or a razer deathadder/lachxxx(?) hopefully during christmas time as i would normally buy a mouse every year end (partly due to the fact that i don't camp at retail stores in the morning so there isn't anything left but mice in stock -_-') -

i really like Apple's mighty mouse, it is definitely not the way to go if you are going to be gaming, as not having 2 separate buttons is not really the best.
for everything else it is great though, especially the type of things i do, animation, illustration, etc. it is a great 3 button mouse for apps like Maya, the click ball is a much better middle mouse button than all the different scroll wheels out there, it is much easier to press.
i can understand why the sensitivity may be an issue for some, but for everything but gaming, I think it is great. -
somewhat like a purchase desire for a new mouse every year, the difference is that logitech's vx revolution had raise the bar so much that i have difficulty finding a better product.
ps. only thing i like about mighty mouse (i tried wired or not) is their scroll ball, unfortunately such attraction has not serve me well enough since sideway scrolling didn't work in windows, right click at times can be inconsistent is another factor(maybe i suck). also, the design is too nice i don't want to use it.
mouse mouse mouse...
