I'm pretty sure that if you accidently downloaded a virus it would only affect the Windows OS as it usally does. OSX is in a different drive partition, and shouldn't be afftected by a windows corruption.

I would check the apple boot camp site for more info, and also try Apple's own support forums.

Yes that's right, at least so far no one has developed a virus/trojan that writes into HFS+ partitions. But that is theoretically possible I am afraid. So I wouldn't install MacDrive in the XP partition, and would sure keep antivirus software up to date on it.

Yes only the Windows side would most likely be affected, seeing how OS X uses a different partition, unless for some uncanny reason the virus is programmed for OS X as well, and if it were, it wouldn't get far with OS X's security features such as needing a password, it'd be especially hard on a limited account, which you should be using for everyday use anyways.

It wouldn't happen that way. If a virus manages to write into an OS X partition while the computer is running Windows, then no protection from OS X is available. The partition could be as well an external drive to that effect. Of course, that is still only theoretical, and I personally don't think it shall happen anytime soon, but it is possible.
