i have a dual boot vista and osx. i want to split up a existing mac osx partition. are there any software under windows vista to do that?
Thanks in advance

Windows can't see HFS+ partitions. It'll either show as "unallocated space" or "unknown partition".
Best way is to boot up OS X, start up Disk Utility and partition your OS X drive from there.
If you mess in any way with the HFS+ partition in Vista, you'll just corrupt it and make it unusable. -
the problem is my mac osx is having problems with my upgraded 4gb Ram. i just cannot boot into the os to do any of the disk utility activity. i just want to salvage 200GB from that partition and convert it to NTFS. i can reinstall osx ,but i just don't have time or osx disk to do that

Alright, do you have the Leopard DVD?
If so, you can insert the disc, restart the computer, hold "Alt" and boot from it. You don't actually need to install anything, but the Leopard Installer has Disk Utility and you can use it from there. After partitioning whatever you want, you can exit the installer and go about your normal business. -
Why not take out the ram, and use your old stuff to get into osx? or just use one of the two sticks.
Alternatively you can buy ipartition, that boots up from a dvd and you -should- be able to do what you want. Not sure, havnt really used it that much. -
what is the use of getting 4gb ram when i cant use it? is there a fix for 4gb ram on osx? i reinstalled osx 3 times and i still get the same kernel panic. i have a 32 bit osx
-
There is probably something either wrong with the ram, or with your laptop. was just trying to help, and leopard does run on 4gb(+) of ram. Did you buy the right speed of ram? I heard if you didnt, you can have problems.

What Mac are you using? If its one of the new unibody machines, I thought I read somewhere there was some issues with running 4GB. Are you sure the RAM you are using is compatible?
-
yes it is one of the new macs with ddr3 which is same spec as my other machine(T500). i can confirm the ram is working because i can boot up vista x64 with no issues. i can format and install the os, but i believe there is valuable data in that partition. is there a way to recover the data?
PS : this is not my machine, if i don't fix it in day or two, i am in big trouble with the owner. -
easy fixed: take out the ram there you go if it's not your machine why install the ram for them?
Do what CDNALSi said. If you need to get files from that HarD DriVe. -
it is supposed to be a surprise but it has gone wrong so badly. i will remove the ram and try out the method
-
i removed the 2gb ram and it still got the same kernel panic. so i reinstalled osx. when i boot up osx,the booting screen came up but at the end just before i get the log in screen, i am getting a shutdown message and the system just turns off.
is there any software to recover data from the hsf+ partition?
need to split up a osx partition
