As those who read my prior posts know, I am running out of time for the new MBP to come out. Still might happen in time, but it will be close. (Zadillo, I decided to stick with a MAC because of possibly easier foreign language use.) Assuming the cost difference were mostly irrelevant, what would make more sense, a new generation MB or an almost old generation MBP. I am leaning toward the former, assuming my old eyes can deal with the small screen (a big assumption), under the theory of seeing how it meets my needs. If it does, I save some moeny. If it does not, I figure I can sell it at not too much of a loss (give my discount as a prof.) and buy the new generation MBP that will presumably finally be out. I mostly do word processing, surf the web, and watch sometimes lengthy clips on the web. Soon I may be watching German TV programs off the web.

For all of those things, a new gen MacBook is going to do just fine, I think.

In terms of screen size, the actual difference in text size, etc. isn't that different......... it's just less overall space, really.

For what it's worth, a lot of signs have been pointing to the new MacBook Pro coming out at WWDC in a couple of weeks (June 11th), so I'd personally at least wait til then.

But your plan would probably work.... get a MacBook, see if it works for you, and if it doesn't, sell it (or heck, return it......... whatever you eat in a restocking fee isn't much worse than you'd give up selling it) and get the new MBP.

Yeah, returning it during the two week return period would make as much sense as anything, assuming I can get things figured out by then (probably can). Actually, I can hold out until the end of the WWDS conference. My actual drop dead date would be around June 19.
