so there's a rumor going around that apple's phasing out the current gen ipod touch through this summer's education promotion.
does that mean the touch is on deck along with the other products for a revision?
also, what do you think will be changed?
i'm thinking the multi-touch features of the macbook air?

It's very likely it will be updated in September (Apples un-official iPod month). All I'm hoping for is lower price and more space. FM radio would be a major plus too. Wireless syncing would be amusing but I really doubt it'll happen.

In the past Apple has used the student promo to clear out old ipod stock before releasing the new models in late september/early august. Nothing really new or shocking about these "rumors".

I would only expect either a lower price or more storage. Other than that it will likely remain unchanged since the iPhone 3G is physically nearly identical to the original. The two main additions don't make sense on the Touch (3G GPS)

Why would they be clearing the new nano then? I will be getting a ipod touch from the student discount, But I don't want to buy a 16gb then them haveing the 32gb for the same price as the 16gb. That would suck.

Just sell the 16 gig and keep the money.

They'll probably reduce the price of the iPod Touch, seeing as how it's currently the same price as the iPhone.

I wouldn't be suprised if they change it to look like the new iphone.

And yes, it wouldn't be a suprise if they did it just when the student discount ends, thats the way apple works. Load off all of the old ipods during the student sale, and then introduce new models. Happens every year.

To bad a 16gb sells for around $150-200 Canadian.
