Do you guys think the price for the solid state drive will go down in the next 4 month? or should I probably stop hoping and start saving money?
thanks

start saving money, and continue hoping. best of both worlds
-
If you mean the SSD option on the Apple website when you customise a laptop, probably a bit. If you mean buying it from a retailer, then definitely yes. Prices for SSD on the market has been dropping constantly, just like the prices for normal HDs etc.
-
They won't go down in four months--maybe in 18 months.
-
It's gonna take a while for a big SSD like the 256GB to become "affordable."
-
get a 7200 rpm hard drive in the meanwhile. -
I bought a couple of 32gb SSD's last year for under a hundred each ($89.00). That same model is back over a hundred.

prices on new technology are always going down and some how Apple stays the same

I think the prices of ssd have the ability to cut down faster than say usb flash drive tech did because its been done already and probably cheaper/easier to produce, not to mention its already a much higher cost.
But thing is its not good business, as long as things are selling good and people will buy a higher price they will sell a higher price. Apple is a good example
I guess the only hope we have for prices dropping faster is for somebody to be bold and undersell the competition starting a price war, ATI/Nvidia definitely had a price war as ATI jumped ahead of nvida and nvidia wanted market share back and prices were lower than ever on the last cycle of high end gpu units (ATI 4050s for $150...)
However for the price war/price cut to be effective supply needs to be as high or higer than demand. Right now its kinda hard to find a Vertex or Intel X25-M in stock in many places, as long as that trend continues price wont go down. -
Yeah I would have to say sometime in q2 next year, they should be dropped. Theyll come out with better and better ones and the best ones will always be expensive. But the best ones right now will be at the price of the ok ones right now.
That's just how things work ;x
