took my mid 2015 15 inch retina macbook pro while traveling and now the screen is cracked and needs to be replaced. There is nothing wrong with the computer otherwise; i've connected it to a 27 inch thunderbolt display and its working perfectly.

any suggestions on how to go about getting the display assembly replaced? The options (all of them near where i live) are:
    1. through an apple store
    2. through an apple certified store
    3. through a recognized store (meaning they have a strong internet presence with lots of positive reviews) which is not apple certified
    4. through some individual expert i come across

Finally i am tempted to purchase the display assembly myself from ifixit and then get it installed in either an apple certified store or a non-apple-certified store or through some individual expert i come across. (This would ensure that i am not getting ripped off by getting a display assembly which is a "lemon" in the event i get the replacement done in an apple certified store or a non-apple-certified store.) I spoke with someone in an apple certified store and they said they could do the installation using an ifixit retina display but they would not be able to give any warranty, while if i purchase the retina display from them they would give me a 60 day warranty.

if you have any experience with this issue or if you know more than i do about this issue, please advise me on the best course of action.

Rossman group wants something like ~$500 for it. I'd go for them, as all of their replacements are well documented on their YT channel. If you dont trust them, go to apple and get it done there. Rossman uses higher quality screens than iFixit afaik (refurbed vs aftermarket) but I dont know iFixit's supplier.
