This has been bugging me for a while now. It happens pretty randomly and i cant figure out what causes it. At random times, cupsd will all of a sudden take over the processor completely and all i know to do is to kill the process. but after killing it a couple times i lose the ability to print until i restart.

this is really starting to tick me off as it cause my ibook to slowdown, heat up, and kills the battery life fast when on battery.

on 10411, but it was doing it in 10410.

That's because cupsd is Common Unix Printing System Daemon. I don't know what would cause it to "run away" like that. Do you have any printers hooked up when this happens? Or are you trying to print?

yeah i know its the print daemon. Usually it seems to happen more on battery, but it does happen when plugged in, so sometimes there is a printer attached, others not. I am never trying to print when it runs away.
