Today, I went to the apple store to play with the new MBP cause I'm considering making the switch. While using safari, I opened two windows and played a youtube video in one window and surfing in the other. When the youtube window is in the background, the video will lag. I tried this out with nbc.com video and it still lagged. Only staying active in the video window will allow it to play without lag.

So I gotta believe this is a safari problem and not the new MBP. My question is to those who have macs and have IE or firefox for mac os X installed, does this scenario still cause lagging video?

yes it still does. i have a macbook, and i used opera, and its doing that also. IE is no longer available for mac. i believe this is the problem/feature/characteristic of apple OS X's graphic engine.

Hmm...that's interesting...before I had that issue as well, the video would lag once I switched to another window. But I'm testing it right now and the problem isn't occurring...that's weird.
