    hi all,
i'm absolutely new to MBP and osx .
    i have a question.
i want to know , if i buy a MBP , can i change the os or no? i mean can i delete osx completely and install for example a fresh copy of xp ?

what about using xp and osx simultaneously ? i mean when pc boots up , i can select which os ( osx or xp ) should run?!

    tnx in advance

    Can you? It's technically possible.

Should you? Probably not. At the least wait until Boot Camp is finalized - you'll have driver issues in Windows with no easy way to update them if you get rid of OSX entirely right now.

There are a ton of reasons not to as well - I'll let someone else list them all over again since I"m lazy.

This is called Boot Camp - currently a free beta download from Apple. Lets you dual boot (i.e. choose the OS you want at start up). Runs Windows natively at no performance loss.

The "Running Windows on a Mac" sticky at the top of this forum will detail some ways to run Windows on the Mac. The thread cashmonee linked to will talk about removing OS X from the Mac.

Personally, I think if you're absolutely new to MacBook Pro and OS X you should try it out before trying to get rid of OS X. Most people enjoy Mac OS X over Windows, and I think you will too.
