My MBP is scheduled to ship today or tommorow. That will suck if I don't get the new ilife.

Yes, iLife '08 is shipping today. So is iWork '08, which is what I'm excited over. And the iMacs too.

So unfortunately if your Mac already shipped but hasn't arrived yet I don't think its going to have iLife '08 :(. Because Apple wouldn't want anyone having it delivered early by accident and telling everyone.

Apple offer upgrade to ILife08 for $9.95

    http://www.apple.com/ilife/uptodate/

I am not sure if it works with ship date or order date, but you need to purchase it on or after Aug 7th.

Well, I have to shell out $79 for my one week old MBP if I decided to upgrade. I like the update to IPhoto'08.

"Customers who purchase a qualifying new Macintosh computer on or after August 7, 2007 that does not have iLife ’08 included can upgrade to iLife ’08."

So it sounds like you have to purchase it on August 7th or later, and if it doesn't come with it then you get iLife '08 for $10 US.

Still, I don't agree with it. I'd rather Apple just give users who bought within a week of today to have a free upgrade. They wouldn't lose that much anyways.

The $9.95 offer is basically for Macs that are stocked in Apple Stores right now, and, I suppose, a small number of Macs that have just been manufactured.

I ordered mine around 6 pm on the 5th - and only then because I live in North Carolina and wanted to get it tax-free. I guess this means I get to shell out 79 of the 177 I saved for iLife '08?

That's what it looks like... but you could always call Apple and see if they budge (or ask at the Apple Store). The worst they can do is say "no."
