Is there a photoshop elements for the mac?

There is also online free photoshop.

GIMP for Mac - runs under X11 which is not very thrilling, but will prolly work well enough:

Also, educational pricing is pretty sweet.

Macworld magazine had a first look at Photoshop Elements 6.0 for mac in the March issue. It's got some features from CS3 while adding new features that even CS3 doesn't have.

I've always preferred Elements over the full thing mainly because I want to spend as little time as possible editing images while still getting good results. CS3 IMO is way over the top and time consuming unless you're a pro photographer.

I would say GIMP is the best free option. If you find it limiting, I suggest a full jump to Photoshop CS3; you'll love it :).

Pixelmator is pretty popular at www.pixelmator.com . It is not too pricey. Also for a little less than that is Imagewell http://xtralean.com/IWOverview.html .

The best free option is probably GIMP, but many people dislike it. You could also try Seashore. I have never used it, but it seems somewhat popular.
