    Hi,

I'm having a common problem that I don't know how to solve in mac os. Well, I'm at home connected via airport, wireless. So, when I leave home, and I'm going to some other place to use theirs hotspot or wireless internet access, I can't establish a connection because the ip adress of my airport connection at home is still on my network card. So, that's the reason why I can't login to other wireless places.

So, how is it possible to erase the ip on my airport card so I can go wireless on different locations?

My OS X is a little rusty. Under the network control panel. There is a option to add a network connection. At home make sure you save your settings, Hopefully you are using WPA security. Then at another location, select add. It should scan and show the AP. And save the setup if special.

Word of caution when using the services. DO NOT DO ANY THING THAT REQUIRES A PASSWORD AND IS NOT ENCRYPTED. Or anything you don't want public.

I'm using wireless access because someone didn't secure his/her router. So can they just see my passwords I typed so far...? My brother in law told me to switch ssid off, so the mac-adress of my airport card will be hidden, but how can I do that?

If your talking about using some type of service that requires your password such as email over an open wireless, you really don't have to worry much there, lot of passwords that are sent on the internet are encyrpted by SSL 128 bit before its sent through, just make sure you see the lock icon in safari before doing something.
