Is it cheaper to buy a good laptop (the new macbook pro for example) straight from apples website and have it shipped? or would it be cheaper to buy it from a store such as best buy? i live in the u.s so disregard shipping prices

It will likely be the same unless they go sale. You'll probably pay less at an internet site because you don't have to pay tax unlike at BB or Apple. Returns are more problematic on the internet.

You can find them on Amazon with a rebate discount usually, free shipping and tax as well. I've seen a 150$ rebate going around.

If your a student you can save 10% off apples education site... or better yet join ADC and get 20% - $99usd = 15%!!

But if it weren't for the online/student discounts I personally buy in person at B&M

I'd probably buy from Apple directly (either at a store or online) as Zaz stated - much less problematic if there is a defect in the machine. If you're a student, you'll also get the best deals directly through Apple, as they offer student/teacher discounts. I would be hesitant to go through Amazon - I'd check and see if Apple still covers returns/exchanges from them if there is a defect in the notebook.

i wouldn't neccessarily say that you get the best deals direct from apple, as from my university i can get some stuff cheaper then whats on apples education site.

MacMall is selling for the same price as the Apple Store, but is doing $150 cash back as well as a free printer if that helps.......
