    why is the 'macintosh HD' icon moving around the desktop?

    it's got a mind of its own.. everytime i restart my computer, the volume icon ("macintosh HD") re-locates to a different spot on the desktop instead of staying on the top right position.. what's up with that? is it alive?

    Do you have any other icons on the desktop? Also, have you set the desktop to "snap to grid"?

    Well, you could try right clicking on the Desktop, clicking on View Options, and then checking the Keep arranged by box.
